Pat Egger and his business partner of three years, Dan Mahaney, who owns Normal Human, are part of a growing T-shirt trend, leading the way back to Kansas City’s glory days as a leader in the garment manufacturing business.

“I believe we are Kansas City. I believe small companies are the essence of what makes Kansas City great right now,?Egger said.

They design and manufacture all of the T-shirts they sell in their Westport store.

“It is part of the urban revitalization that is happening, and lots of towns that were huge industrial centers for the country and had their time and came and went, and now it about these people who are using those spaces, giving them a new life,?Egger said.

In its heyday, one in seven women in the US bought clothes that were designed and manufactured in Kansas City. With the popularity of Kansas City themed T-shirts, the garment industry is making a comeback.

“I think that’s what our business is about, Kansas City pride. We actually got started in my garage,” Egger said.
